The Greens on the road with the PRIMOVE e-bus

In Mannheim, Germany, e-mobility is not only theory but already an established part of the citizens’ everyday life. It’s already been nearly 2 years since the PRIMOVE e-buses started passenger service on the inner-city route 63. The two electric vehicles are equipped with the complete PRIMOVE package – consisting of the wireless charging, compact battery and efficient propulsion system.

With electric mobility continuously moving up on the political agenda, members of the German party Alliance 90/The Greens did now want to get first-hand experience with the environmentally friendly vehicles. Thus, Elke Zimmer, borough council in Mannheim and member of the parliament in the German Federal state Baden-Wuerttemberg, and colleague Thomas Hentschel, also a member of the parliament as well as the spokesperson for e-mobility topics, went on an excursion to visit the local public transport authority Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv). On-site, Sebastian Menges, Project Manager for the e-buses at rnv as well as PRIMOVE’s Christian Koebel, responsible for Product Management, provided an overview on e-mobility with PRIMOVE in general, the Mannheim based project in particular and the experiences gained. Later on, everyone went towards the nearby bus stop ‘Möhlstraße’, in order to take the 63 towards Mannheim main station. Like this, the politicians where able to convince themselves how easy and convenient e-mobility can be already today. Completely free from cables or plugs and integrated seamlessly into the cityscape.

All participants spent an informative afternoon with interesting discussions amongst e-mobility experts as well as first-hand practical experience.
