At the premises of local public transport authority Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv) participants of public transport authorities from all over Germany took the chance to have a closer look at the two e-buses that are serving the nine-kilometer long route in Mannheim’s city center.
Representatives of rnv, the City of Mannheim, as well as Hess and Bombardier explained the project from their point of view. Christian Volz, Commercial CEO of RNV welcomed the guests and emphasized how contented his company is with this project. Both e-buses are in passenger operations since June 2015 on Mannheim’s city center line 63 and since then serve the challenging route quite successfully. Mannheim’s citizens already got used to the new comfort offered by the quiet and emission-free e-buses and prefer them to the much noisier diesel buses as the City’s First Mayor, Christian Specht stated during his speech.
Afterwards, guests could convince themselves how quiet the bus actually is during a bus ride along route 63. The subsequent charging process showed how easy and convenient e-mobilty with PRIMOVE really is. Without cables or plugs the e-bus was recharged by the inductive PRIMOVE charging system in just a few minutes.
Since passenger service started in early summer 2015, the two e-buses already drove around 25,000 km thanks to the successful combination of the inductive PRIMOVE charging system, the high-power PRIMOVE battery and the reliable PRIMOVE propulsion system.
