Every seat at the event location of the mobility research centre InnoZ in Berlin was taken last Tuesday, as residents and passengers of bus line 204 came together to learn more about the new e-buses soon to start operations on the city center route between Zoologischer Garten and Südkreuz.
Berlin public transport authority Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and its project partners Technical University Berlin and Bombardier invited to an evening of information and discussion on the new e-bus line and the technology behind. This was very well received: about 100 citizens followed the invitation, listened to the presentations and used the chance to ask many questions.
To everyone’s delight, after the event participants were surprised by one of the e-buses awaiting them in front of the building. The happy citizens closely examined the brand new vehicle, stepped inside and took photos – the little ones even could try how it feels to be in the driver’s seat.
Residents and passengers can’t wait for the new e-buses to start operations. Until then, the project partners are conducting some final tests before revenue service will begin after the summer holidays.
